The NiSi Explorer Collection 100x100 mm Neutral Density filters are made for adventures! These ND filters feature a special B270 tempered glass that makes them twice as durable as other typical glass filters. And of course they do not affect the coloration of the image and also have IR coating and the same dirt, water and oil repellant Nano coating as NiSi's regular filters.
The NiSi 100x100 mm Explore filters are compatible with the NiSi 100 mm filter system and can be used on lenses with a filter thread from 49 mm to 95 mm.
Note: These filters have undergone a tempering and hardening process to make them much less prone to accidental damage. But this does not mean they are unbreakable. After a period of time, the hardening may also decline.
How to choose ND filter:
Neutral density (ND) filters are used to reduce the amount of light entering the lens. They can enable greater motion blur and/or shallow depth of field by allowing a slow shutter speed and large aperture.
ND8 / 3 stops is commonly used for waterfalls and capturing water flow at shutter speeds from 0.5 seconds to 2 seconds.
ND64 / 6 stops is generally used during the "golden hour" (the period shortly after sunrise or before sunset) to achieve exposures of 1-2 minutes for creating smooth water or clouds. A ND64 filter is also great for capturing dynamic water while retaining some texture before the golden hour.
ND1000 / 10 stops is suitable for use during daytime, when the bright ambient light requires much more ‘light blocking’ than at the beginning or end of the day. During the golden hour, the ND1000 can prolong exposures for up to 5 minutes with the appropriate settings.
